Untitled colonial item with trace of entanglement.

2022

Flatbet scan of 17-18 century faience shard found on the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia.

A symbol of colonial entanglement as it also can be seen on the former Danish colonies Saint Thomas, Saint Jan and Saint Croix and other places in the Caribbean,

A little object by size but representing a time of enormous entangled and enslaved history of mankind.

Being a witness of its journey over the Atlantic, the triangular trade, the many servings, and meals it had been carrying - The many hands it has been hold by. All to please it’s white owner.

Today the remaining shard is back to Europe, not to serve anything else that a dark burden of our common Danish past.
